Publishing Ethics and Malpractice Statement

In line with the best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), we expect all parties involved—editors, authors, reviewers, and the publisher—to conduct themselves ethically and professionally at every stage of the publishing process.

1. Ethical Responsibilities

a. Editorial Responsibilities

  • Editors are responsible for ensuring the academic quality, relevance, and integrity of all submissions.
  • Manuscripts are evaluated based solely on scholarly merit, without bias concerning race, gender, religious belief, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.
  • Editors must maintain confidentiality and ensure the double-blind review process is respected.
  • Editors will act upon any ethical concerns or allegations of misconduct in a timely and thorough manner.

b. Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
  • Confidentiality must be strictly maintained; manuscripts under review should not be shared or used for personal gain.
  • Reviewers are expected to disclose any potential conflict of interest and to recuse themselves if necessary.
  • Ethical concerns, such as plagiarism or unethical methodology, must be reported to the editor immediately.

c. Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must ensure their work is original and properly cite all sources and contributions.
  • Simultaneous submissions to other journals are not allowed.
  • All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the work.
  • Authors are responsible for disclosing any financial or personal conflicts of interest.
  • Ethical approval must be obtained for any research involving human or animal subjects.

d. Publisher Responsibilities

  • The publisher of Jurnal Paradigma supports the editors and reviewers in maintaining publishing integrity.
  • The publisher ensures that all published articles are preserved and accessible, and that appropriate action is taken in cases of ethical misconduct.

2. Statement on Publication Malpractice

Jurnal Paradigma takes publication malpractice seriously and has a zero-tolerance policy towards unethical practices. Unacceptable behaviors include (but are not limited to):

  • Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism
  • Falsification or fabrication of data
  • Submission of work not authored by the listed individuals
  • Improper authorship (e.g., ghost, honorary, or gift authorship)
  • Redundant publication or multiple submissions
  • Failure to disclose conflicts of interest

When malpractice is identified, the editorial board will take the necessary actions which may include:

  • Rejection or retraction of the manuscript
  • Notification to the author's institution or funding body
  • Temporary or permanent ban from future submissions
  • Public notice of ethical breach
